Student Spotlight: Ukulele – Can't Help Falling in Love Having started learning the ukulele in 2023, this student has made wonderful progress on her musical journey. Through dedicated study, she has developed her ability to read standard notation, understand rhythms and build an increasingly varied chord vocabulary. Her growing confidence has enabled her to tackle more complex repertoire, exploring both beautiful melodies and rich harmonic arrangements. This performance features an arrangement of Elvis Presley's classic Can't Help Falling in Love, which we worked on together during her lessons. She now has a lovely collection of pieces in her repertoire, demonstrating the progress she has made and the enjoyment that comes from learning and developing new musical skills. Her journey is a wonderful example of how it's never too late to learn an instrument, build confidence and discover the pleasure of making music.

Student Spotlight: Advanced Electric Guitar Performance Having started guitar lessons with me at just five or six years old, this student has developed into an outstanding musician. Now 18, he has spent over a decade developing his technique, musical understanding and individual playing style. This video features his GCSE performance, recorded in March 2025, and is a fantastic demonstration of his technical ability, precision and musical expression. He achieved his Grade 8 in Year 9, and since then our lessons have progressed into advanced techniques, improvisation, music theory and repertoire at diploma level. Throughout his studies, he has tackled some seriously challenging music inspired by guitar legends such as Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and John Petrucci, alongside the work of bass virtuoso Stanley Clarke. His performance of Glasgow Kiss by John Petrucci was particularly impressive! It has been a real pleasure to support his development from a young beginner to an accomplished guitarist capable of performing demanding repertoire to an exceptional standard. His playing is a testament to years of dedication, curiosity and a genuine passion for music. If you'd like to hear more, I highly recommend checking out his social media to discover more of his playing!
